If you are maxed out on time but still want to grow your business (literally everyone is raising a hand here, right?), setting up a sales funnel for your online business could be the perfect next step for you.
What the heck is a sales funnel? I’m so glad you asked! *puts education degree to good use* 👩🏼🏫
A sales funnel is really just a fancy way of saying your customer’s journey with you.
This is how your customers go from: “who are you?” to “OMG I LOVE HER.”
Your business will have a unique sales funnel that is specific to your business, but there is a classic set up that most business owners can follow.
As we work our way through your sales funnel, the number of people who take that next step in your business will get smaller and smaller, just like a funnel.
Your goal is to bring your customers in at the top of your funnel and have them work their way through your funnel for as long as you are able to continue serving them (please don’t try to make a paying customer out of someone you know you can’t serve 🙏🏼).
Your customer’s journey
The very top of the funnel is the widest part. This is where your audience size is going to be the largest because this is where your free content hangs out. Think: your social media accounts, your podcast, your blog. A lot of people will “find” you via these platforms, but you won’t resonate with everyone (and this is a good thing! You want to find your people 💁🏼♀️ This is why your messaging is so important.)
The people that do resonate with you will take the next step by opting in to the 🔥 freebie you offer and joining your email list.
You continue serving these potential customers through value-driven emails, your social media content, your podcast and/or blog, etc.
Invite these people to take the next step in working with you via your main offer! You don’t have to send them a personalized invite via snail mail (although that would be very cool of you). You just need to make sure your offer is apparent. Post about it on social media, talk about it on your IG stories, include the link to your services or sales page in your email nurture sequence… keep it simple, yeah? A percentage of your audience will buy if you’re doing your job right!
Your customers will leave your funnel when they’ve learned all they can from you.
You can make your funnel larger with higher level offers, trip wires, order bumps, and complex segmented nurture sequences, but I would strongly recommend waiting to complicate things until you have your initial offer locked in and your funnel is converting.
